The administration of business for Howe Printing Company is now being conducted by the fourth generation of the Howe Family.
Henry E. Howe, first generation, operated his printing equipment with a gasoline engine mounted on the outside of the building and a series of belts and pulleys to each machine provided power.
Lyman J. Howe returned from World War I and the company began to grow until World War II erupted on December 7, 1941.
L. J.'s two sons, William (Bill) and L. J. Jr. (Jack) enlisted in the Navy and returned to Prairie du Chien in 1946 to become the third generation in this printing business. The production of a weekly newspaper and commercial printing expanded with post-war economic growth.

Fourth generation... hard at work!
|
|
| The fourth generation John (pictured on the left), son of Jack, and Gary (pictured on the right), son of Bill, have proven to be most energetic. Expansions including a twice-a-week newspaper and shopper and, in a separate building, a well-equipped commercial printing plant, provide Southwest Wisconsin with a corporation having a reputation of providing outstanding customer service. Howe Printing Co. is located in Southwest Wisconsin along the banks of the Mississippi River. We serve the Prairie du Chien area with a "one stop" printing source that prides its self on friendly, customer satisfied service. |
